Mid-Infrared Supercontinuum Generation in Optical Fibers
In this webinar hosted by the OSA Fiber Modeling and Fabrication Technical Group, Dr. Christian Rosenberg Petersen from the Technical University of Denmark will introduce the field of mid-IR supercontinuum generation starting from a brief look at the history of the field, all the way from the first early demonstrations to commercialization and recent applications. The webinar also will delve into the physics of the pulse dynamics and discuss how it is affected by the design parameters of optical fibers and the various pumping schemes, including fiber cascading and in-amplifier generation. Finally, the webinar take a look at some of the promising applications of mid-IR supercontinuum, including multi-species spectroscopy, optical coherence tomography, and photoacoustic spectroscopy and microscopy.

What You Will Learn:
• Brief history of mid-IR supercontinuum generation from first demonstrations to commercialization
• The physics of supercontinuum generation in optical fibers
• Designing optical fibers for mid-IR supercontinuum generation
• Different pumping schemes
• Applications

Who Should Attend:
• PhD students
• Researchers both in academics and industry
