Get your marshmallows ready and grab a seat around the campfire! The Optica Technical Group on Lasers in Manufacturing invites you to join them for a campfire session exploring laser-based additive manufacturing processes.
This campfire session will start with a talk from Yash Bandari of AddiTec (MELTIO). Dr. Bandari’s talk will highlight the advantages of laser-based additive manufacturing processes as well as focus on the applications and challenges of these processes. Finally, Dr. Bandari will discuss what you need to take into consideration when applying these processes to manufacture real-life engineering component.
Following the talk, our moderator Melanie Lang, CEO of FormAlloy Technologies, will lead the campfire session in an open discussion. We encourage you to come with your thoughts and questions ready to share. You will be able to turn your camera and mic on or off to participate as you choose.
About Our Speaker: Dr. Yash Bandari works at AddiTec (MELTIO) as a Business Development Manager in the Additive Manufacturing (AM) group. Yash is an internationally recognized manufacturing professional who has 10 years of experience in AM processes. He possesses a unique blend of business and technical savvy; his current work involves overseeing the business side of the company and manage AM projects. He received his Ph.D. from Cranfield University, UK and he gained experience working for TATA Motors Limited as a technical manager in AM department; also, for Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL) and EWI as a subject matter expert. He holds 2 provisional patents in his name. He published several articles, chaired various conferences, and gave numerous talks on AM. He is an editorial board member of ASTM journal 'Smart and Sustainable Manufacturing', and actively participates in ASTM F42 and ASM International emerging technologies committees. He is a vivid cricketer, soccer player, and he loves traveling with his wife and they both enjoy cooking.
